Who we are

The Cambridge Tech Market Map is built and operated by Innovare Recruitment Ltd (registered in England, ICO registration CSN29157). The data controller is Bradleigh Barnes, reachable at brad@innovarerec.com.

What data we collect

If you just browse

An anonymous session id (a random UUID stored in your browser's localStorage) lets us count how many candidates view each company / stack / industry. We hash your IP with a daily salt so the same IP returns the same hash within a day, but the hash is useless after that — we can't deanonymise you across days.

We log which entity-pages you view, when you click through to a company's careers page, and what you search for. None of this is linked to your identity unless you later submit a form (register-interest or watchlist) that includes your email.

If you register interest

Name, email, LinkedIn URL (optional), target role, target salary, notice period, right to work, free-text message, and the explicit consent tick. We pass your email through ZeroBounce to verify it's a real address (no spam-trap, no disposable domain). The verification result is stored alongside your submission.

Once you submit, the prior anonymous session events get linked to your identity — that's how we can tell that you viewed three Cambridge fintech companies before deciding which one to ask about. This stays internal to Innovare; it's never shared with the companies you viewed.

If you save a watchlist

Email address, the search criteria, and your chosen frequency (instant / daily / weekly). We send a confirmation email via Resend; nothing happens until you click confirm. Every watchlist email has a one-click unsubscribe link that immediately disables the alert.

Who we share it with

• ZeroBounce — email validation only. They see your email address, return a status, store nothing.
• Resend — transactional email delivery (confirmation + digest emails).
• Cloudflare — the Turnstile no-CAPTCHA challenge on the interest form sees your IP + browser fingerprint to detect bots. We never read this data.
• Companies you ask us to introduce you to — only after you've explicitly told us you want to be represented. We share your CV / LinkedIn only with your specific permission.

What we DON'T do

• We don't set tracking cookies. localStorage is the only storage we use, and only for the anonymous session id described above.
• We don't sell or rent your data. Ever.
• We don't share your data with companies before you ask us to. The "register interest" form is opt-in; submitting it is a request for us to introduce you.
• We don't auto-bill companies on the back of careers@ emails. The introductions are free until you've explicitly engaged us on terms.

How long we keep it

Anonymous session events: 12 months, then deleted in monthly batches.
Register-interest submissions: kept until you ask us to delete them, or until 24 months of no activity, whichever comes first.
Watchlist records: while active. Once unsubscribed, the record is kept for 6 months (audit), then deleted.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to: see what we have on you, correct it, delete it, or stop processing it. Email brad@innovarerec.com with the subject "Data request" and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk if you think we've handled your data badly — though we'd rather hear from you first.

Changes

We'll update this page if anything material changes and bump the "Last updated" date at the top. For watchlist holders, we'll send an email if there's a material change that affects you.
